Question: We received contributions on New Years Eve. Should these be counted as 2009 contributions even though we didn’t deposit the money until Monday?
Answer: If the contributions were received before midnight, they should be counted as 2009 donations. Otherwise report them as 2010 donations. If you receive contributions in the mail, be sure to check the postmark date. Donations postmarked on or before 12/31/09 should be reported as 2009 donations.
